The National Grains and Fodder Competition at the Show is the perfect opportunity for farmers and producers to show off their best produce. The competition puts agricultural excellence on display while promoting high standards, sustainability and innovations in agricultural practices.
Competition takes place with 40 classes and includes opportunities for the younger generation through the junior grain and junior hay categories.
Pulse is this year’s feature grain and is expected to be hotly contested alongside wheat, barley, oats, seed, chaff and hay classes.

School Wheat Growing Competition
This competition promotes the science behind agronomy to students, teachers and parents. The purpose of the competition is to inspire current students to become the next generation of plant and agricultural scientists, and to support teachers to deliver their science curriculum in a plant-based context.
This competition can be either:
A school team project (maximum of 3 students) or
An individual with their school’s permission
One entry consists of:
1 pot of growing plants
1 A2 size poster summarising your project
The goal for each entrant is to grow the most vigorous crop of wheat plants in a pot.
Competition growing week commences: Monday 29 April 2025
Growing period: 18 weeks
Competition growing week concludes: Friday 29 August 2025
Delivery: Monday 1st September - 9.30am to 9.45am
Judging and Presentation: Monday 1st September - 10am – 11.30am
